The climate in Cancun and the Riviera Maya is semi-tropical, with an average annual temperature of 26°C and can rise to 35°C in summer.

But before you dismiss the idea of living here or visiting this region during the summer months, consider that Cancun's regular tropical rains often begin around 4 or 5 p.m. and last only a few hours. That means there's a good chance you'll have good weather most of the day for outdoor excursions or enjoying the beach.
